No pineapples today but it is psych related, I had never heard of a sopapilla until a few weeks ago on Psych, so of course I had to try em out.

I am disappointed with the lack of alcohol
or meat in this picture |
What
you'll need:
- Deep Fryer
- Large Bowl
- Large cutting board or other floured surface
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 3/4 Cup Warm Water
- Confectioners Sugar (optional)
- Honey (optional)
Instructions:
- In bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and butter.
- Mix in water until smooth.
- Shape into a ball, cover and let sit for 20 minutes.
- Heat Deep Fryer to 375°.
- Roll out the dough on the floured board or surface until its about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out in whatever shapes you would like, can use cookie cutters for all it matters, I just sliced it up like a pizza then cut a circle in the center, which gave me 8 large squarish shapes and 8 smaller triangular shapes.
- (Note, don't overcrowd the fryer, I only did 2 at a time, 1 large and 1 small)
- Fry until Golden Brown on both sides. (3 - 4 minutes per side)
- Remove from deep fryer and place onto plate lined with paper towel to drain.
- Sprinkle with Confectioners Sugar and Drizzle with Honey. (optional)
- Eat Up and watch tonight's new episode of Psych.
Note: If you do not eat all in 1 sitting, which is likely, refrigerate and to reheat, place into a 300° preheated oven for 5 - 6 minutes, flipping halfway thru, don't heat too long or they'll get hard.
