Sopapillas

No pineapples today but it is psych related, I had never heard of a sopapilla until a few weeks ago on Psych, so of course I had to try em out.

Sopapillas

I am disappointed with the lack of alcohol
or meat in this picture

What you'll need:
  1. Deep Fryer
  2. Large Bowl
  3. Large cutting board or other floured surface
  4. 2 Cups Flour
  5. 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  6. 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  7. 2 Tablespoons Butter
  8. 3/4 Cup Warm Water
  9. Confectioners Sugar (optional)
  10. Honey (optional)
Instructions:
  1. In bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt and butter.
  2. Mix in water until smooth.
  3. Shape into a ball, cover and let sit for 20 minutes.
  4. Heat Deep Fryer to 375°.
  5. Roll out the dough on the floured board or surface until its about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut out in whatever shapes you would like, can use cookie cutters for all it matters, I just sliced it up like a pizza then cut a circle in the center, which gave me 8 large squarish shapes and 8 smaller triangular shapes.
  7. (Note, don't overcrowd the fryer, I only did 2 at a time, 1 large and 1 small)
  8. Fry until Golden Brown on both sides. (3 - 4 minutes per side)
  9. Remove from deep fryer and place onto plate lined with paper towel to drain.
  10. Sprinkle with Confectioners Sugar and Drizzle with Honey. (optional)
  11. Eat Up and watch tonight's new episode of Psych.
Note: If you do not eat all in 1 sitting, which is likely, refrigerate and to reheat, place into a 300° preheated oven for 5 - 6 minutes, flipping halfway thru, don't heat too long or they'll get hard.

This looks very unsatisfying
Am I making a friggin pie crust?
It's like boring pizza.
Here goes nothing
Ta Da!
Note: these things are actually quite good, Enjoy :)
